looking at a 2az-fe 2.4 liter. Owner said it doesn't burn oil, is this possible.

It is widely reported that this engine consumes oil quiet significantly due to the wrong piston rings design. Oil consumption usually starts after 45-50k miles.

It is possible that the owner has delusions. But the oil could be diluted too.

Do the ol' "One Finger Salute".
Swipe your finger around the inside of the tailpipe (engine off!)
If it's black & greasy
she's farting burnt oil residue
