do i really need to change the oil filter every time i change my oil ? not because i want to save a couple of dollars, is it just necessary ?
YES
Yes, absolutely!
considering that they were only designed to last for one oil change, yes I would.
And considering they can cost as little as $3-4, it would be foolish not to. Would you rather put on a new filter, or risk a collapsed filter that stops filtering , or worse stops the flow of oil to your engine?
Yes! Change the oil filter every time you change your oil.
The oil filter constantly traps debris and fine metal particulates any time the car runs. These are things you do not want bypassing a clogged filter if you want your engine to last or as @mountainmanjoe said losing oil pressure all together due to restriction.
Yes, your car deserves the best. Oil and filter are cheap, your engine is not!
