Hey scotty I been doing a lot of research driving myself crazy I have decided on my 5w20 hm for my 2012 fusion 86k miles but I can't decide which is the best quality oil filter I was looking at the stp synthetic 15000 mile filter or standard motorcraft or fram 15000 mile filter and even wix xp but can't find enough info I wanna change my mile 5-7 miles but wanna be safe if I ever go well past that
The cheapy fram oil filters have a cardboard frame inside. This isn’t a problem for people who change their oil regularly bit for those that don’t I have seen the filter clog and internal structure collapse causing catastrophic engine failure. 3-4 buck oil filters are just that. Can’t go wrong with something like a regular Wix, MotorCraft, STP , Napa Gold etc… or better. i spend 10-12 bucks on filters and always get a decent synthetic oil. I also change mine every 3-4k in every car I own, never going past 5k. Dark brown oil is ok, black oil isn’t.
