Hi Scotty. I was wondering if you recommend oil flushes? I've been told to get one for my 2015 corolla with 132,000 ks on it. I'm not fussed since it's quite cheap, but have seen online that they can damage seals of engines so am interested to know your thoughts. Thanks!
No. They're useless and a waste of money.
Every time you change your oil is considered an oil flush. Snake oil IMO.
I wouldn't use anything inside the engine other than oil. In my opinion, as long as you do your regular oil changes you shouldn't need to add extra stuff like that. Very rarely do they actually damage seals, and it's one of those things you have to do research on before using it. Realize that seals do wear out normally over time, and doing regular oil changes will keep them in good shape.
I flushed an old Dodge once.
Just once.
Engine died a month later.
Mechanic said something about "bearings".
Maybe it was just a coincidence.
But would never try it again.
