2017 chevy cruze diesel, 1.6L turbo, 110k miles.
Can I use any 5w-30 oil on my cruze diesel or does the oil have to be that 5w-30 ESP type?

It's safest to stick with the oil recommended in your owner's manual.

You cannot use just any oil. It does not have to be the Mobil 1 ESP line (though that is very good quality oil) but it does have to be diesel rated oil. Do not use 5w-30 for gas motors.
Look for Dexos-D rated oil. That’s GM’s proprietary oil rating system. Any Dexos-D rated 5w-30 will work fine in your car.
