Hello, I have a 2017 dodge grand caravan GT with a pentestar engine. I ended up with a oil leak that’s leaking onto the top of my transmission. Searching the problem on YouTube I can only come up with the oil cooler crack. I took it to a shop I normally go to, but he said I needed to go to the dealership.
My main question was can I replace the plastic oem oil cooler assembly with an aftermarket aluminum oil cooler assembly. Or do I need to stick with the oem plastic assembly?
Before buying parts you might want to verify where the oil is coming from by using UV dye.

I know exactly where it’s leaking from. It’s leaking from the oil filter/cooler assembly. But I need to know if I should replace it with a oem assembly or can it be replaced with an aluminum assembly
As long as it fits I don't see any reason you couldn't use an aluminum replacement, should be better than OEM plastic.
