Could it be worn piston rings, valve guide seals, or Headgasket.
Engine was purchase from junkyard. Had about 114,000 miles on the engine. But started to smoke blue smoke due to oil burning.
for a 30 year old engine from the junkyard, it could be any or all of the above.
2 possibilities require a top end rebuild and piston rings are an engine-out job.
Either way, probably not worth it.
I would rather spend money on older cars than on newer cars. Maybe could be just worn out valve stem seals.
well you could be spending a lot of it
The oil is probably leaking from the valve cover gasket and down onto the exhaust manifold. Replace the valve cover gasket.
It is not leaking from valve cover because i can see oil coming out of the manifold gasket from the exhaust.
If it's leaking from the exhaust manifold as you say, it must be coming from worn out valve stem seals or worn out valve guides. I would pull the head and get it rebuilt.
i've gone over this before but here we go again.
get U V dye to put in the oil
put it in
wash down the engine with dawn and towel dry it
drive normally for a week
shine a black light on the engine
the dye will flouress and show you where the leak is
fix the leak
got it?
cool
