Ford Transit Custom

Hey Scotty.

I just bought a brand new Transit custom cargo van to use for work. Friend of my has a taxi company and he has a fleet of them ( 8 seater passenger versions) claiming they the best of all vans his had in the company. Says he gets about 400k miles out of each of them before they go out and its usually the turbo charger that goes out. He follows ford's recommended service interval which is quite ridiculous. They recommend oil changes every 25 000 miles where as I did my first oil change at 3000 miles and plan to do all the others at 15 000 miles. We both do mainly highway driving in general spend about 95% of the time on the highway.

Can I expect to get a whole lot more miles  from the vehicle than he does? I do about 40 000 miles a year and he does about 100 000 on each of his vans in the same time frame.

Good information about the 25k oil change interval. Numerous studies have come to the same conclusion.

it depends what you're doing for those 40k miles
