OIL PRESSURE SENSOR

I previously posted that the change oil message suddenly  appeared on my 2007 Ion's OD. I did some checking and was told that this was due to the oil pressure sensor. Although my Ion has nearly 87,000 miles it is 16 years + a few months since it was assembled at Spring Hill in late October 2006. I figure that though the mileage is very low given the age of the vehicle it makes sense that due to time some parts will wear out. What does anyone think of that  answer? I was also told not to replace it. Thank you

Go ahead and replace it.  They're only about $20 and available everywhere.  Yours is now 15 years old and probably crudded up and not reading correctly.  Unscrew the old one, screw in the new one, connect the wire.  Done.

I've never heard of an oil pressure sensor having anything to do with an oil life indicator.
