Hi Scotty

I'm looking at a 2001 Mercedes C230 kompressor sport coupe manual, the small hatchback ones, with 160k. 1 owner sold through dealer for $2500 it seems to be in good shape, dealer mainteined. Would that be a good purchase for a small fun car? Thank you

Did you mean 160,000 kms or miles?

It can be a good weekend toy. Have a mechanic check it out before buying it.

$2500 for a fun weekend toy seems alright, if a Mercedes mechanic checks it out thoroughly before purchase.

As a daily driver, forget about it..

What do you plan to use it as? If its just a toy and a mechanic says its been cared for and you can get it ideally around 1500-1800 then not a bad purchase at all. Realize it will become an endless money pit as you put on more miles.

Shame. I was hoping it might be reliable being old and basic model, less fancy electrics. Was gonna use it as a commuter in nice weather so I dont have to drive my SUV, looking for something cheap and fun(RWD). Would go for a IS250 but they are rare in europe cant find one.

Anything else you can recommend? Need back seat so cant be Miata unfortunately, and I figure BMW is even worse

Wait, if you’re in Europe, and have access to cheap aftermarket parts & cheaper labour rates, it may be reasonable to daily drive it. For $2500..
