Hey Scotty,
I have a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick JLX. 1.6, 16V efi, 4wd, automatic. It has 229000 miles on it and runs like a top, however the Check Engine light is on. Using a jump wire I checked the codes and got it to flash out 12 - meaning no codes. Ive tried the little hidden switch under the dash, removing the fuse, unplugging the battery and nothing works. I need to get it inspected and it will fail if the MIL is on.. Please help.. Love watching your videos! and Im from Lewiston NY and worked for many years in Niagara Falls. Thank you
Your engine is based on GM design.
12 flashes indicates distributor problem.

The Suzuki G series engine was based on a GM design? I dont think so. Maybe a GM platform, but the whole reason GM teamed up with Suzuki, Toyota (Yummi) and Isuzu is because GM didnt have any good small car designs.
You're right it is a Suzuki engine. I stand corrected.
However, since the Sidekick (Tracker/Sunrunner etc.) was a GM joint venture, maybe it is using a GM OBD system.
Nope, its Suzukis.. 12 means there are no fault codes. However I did more research and found a NAG switch, (emissions crap) which allowed me to run the diagnostic and I got a 34 Mass airflow sensor circuit to low. Im going to try and clean it.
