Hey Scotty

I am torned  between  two models of Toyota.

I am in the market for a Suv.

I am trying  to figure  out the best option  between  a 4runner and a highlander?

I know the 4runner  is Rwd or 4wd and Highlander is Fwd ir Awd. We need something  tow a travel  trailer. Now I am trying weigh on towing capacity  gas mileage  and price  of ownership  My wife  will be mostly  driving this vehicle.

Just looking for for some advice and your opinion.

Thanks

One is more of a truck (4Runner). One is more like a car (Highlander).

If it is mostly city, highway, and freeway driving, I’d go with the Highlander.

If you are doing more trails, more towing, then the 4Runner.

Since the wife is driving it mainly, I’d steer towards the Highlander.

But, test drive both. See what you like.

4Runner will stand up to towing much better, and in my opinion the ride quality is just fine (better than you think). The current gen 4Runner is as close to a “forever car” as there is; virtually indestructible.
The only absolute advantages of the highlander is fuel economy and 3rd row seating.
Id get the 4Runner, but they’re both pretty good. Test drive both and get the one you like.

PS: verify tow ratings for both and make sure they work for your trailer.

They both excellent vehicles but if your wife's driving all the time she'll probably be like the Highlander better

You should probably have your wife drive them both and see what drive she likes better

the Highlander is a unibody but the 4runner is a body on frame so it drives more like a truck

The 4runner is going to be more expensive and cost you more on gas but depending on how much you're towing you may want the extra power
