Hi Scotty,
Love your YouTube vids, keep telling it like it is! I’m writing you in hopes that you might give me the benefit of your experience and expertise regarding pre-purchase vehicle inspections.
I’m about to buy a 2021 or 22 Honda Piot EX-L very soon from somewhere within a 200 mile radius of my home in central Florida. I don’t have a vehicle (hence the search) and where I live is a 1.5-3 hour drive to the vehicles I’m looking at. When I’m ready to start negotiating, I’m going to purchase an inspection from either POMCAR or Lemon Squad to have the vehicle checked at the sellers’ site. I’m aware that these mobile inspection services cover many different surface aspects and will scan for trouble codes, etc., but are there any other deeper or less common mechanical issues you feel they might want to look at, as well (without taking the engine apart, of course)? I'd like to get my $200 fees worth and avoid any unpleasant surprises down the road.
I’d appreciate your insights and opinions and look forward to hearing from you, at your convenience.
Thanks,
Doug
Of course an inspection is only as good as the person doing it. Ask them what they do. For example, do they do a compression test of the engine that they bring electrical analysis to check for drains to check the charging system. But basically it comes down to? Is the person really a pro on vehicles or just some young kid who shows up in a van and looks at a couple things?
