hey scotty, what is your thoughts on a 2015 hyundai elantra gl.  The car has 96000kms (60000 miles) and the dealer is asking 8500 cad (6700 usd).  Do you think this would be a good car for the price given the market we are in now.  Thanks

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Hyundai/Kia make some of the worst cars in the business and are known for their poor quality.

Stay away from Korean cars. They are junk. The engines are known to fail within 60k miles.

I had a 2008 Kia Carnival with the 3.8L Lambda. Apart from a few engineering flaws it was still on the original motor at 150,000 miles. If I ever get over my French I'll be definitely going Korean. They have come a long way. The 2015 model is the one that turned the corner for Hyundai on that model in my opinion. Plus it's been out for enough years where they would have worked out most of the flaws.

As long as it's a good price, looked after with all the fluids regularly changed as per schedule and not thrashed I would be inclined to buy it actually. Might pay to change the timing belt/oil/filter/coolant/power steering/brake fluid if it hasn't been done already and have a look at various bushes/brake rotors/pads. Do the small things now and it should look after you for years to come

NOT!
