What would be the outcome if Toyota and Honda created some type of alliance?

No one knows, but not great. Honda's new priorities of efficiency and performance would clash with Toyota's conservative and quality based idealogies.

If I were working for an automaker, I’d work for Toyota as their approach and priorities jives with my own.

Two amazing yet completely different incompatible company cultures that.

Toyota is the school boy that got his homework done at a steady pace.

Honda is the knowledgeable rebel that cut school but somehow kept up with everyone in class.

But when it comes down to it.  They both really care about their product amd the quality of their product.

And in school I fit the description you mention for Toyota. Perhaps another reason I love them so much. How they go about developing and engineering cars jives with how I would do it.

That would be an interesting alliance.

Here's another one of these philosophical questions that will cause some arguments due to opinion-based answers...

It could be good, or it could be bad. We won't know until an alliance is actually formed between the two. I doubt that will ever happen though...there is this phenomenon called competition in business. Sure Mazda and Toyota formed a partnership, but this is mainly because Mazda needs a "helping hand" so to speak (they always need a helping hand). Ford was their last "helping hand", but they didn't do so great with helping Mazda's quality lol.

I would expect Toyota’s reliability to drop a little.  Other companies need Toyota, but Toyota does not need other companies.  They should just chart their own course and future and not dilute their brand and reliability as a result of partnerships unless they call all the shots during development.

To know the outcome of such an alliance, watch (American series) The Office - S1 E04.

That’s exactly how it may go down..

I don’t wanna hear anything about Toyonda or Honyota shenanigans, please thank you.

Toyota already has partnerships with Mazda and Subaru.

And Honda with... GM! Why Honda, why?!

Toyota also partnered with Suzuki.

Yea, but Toyota’s reliability has not suffered because of those partnerships, yet anyways. Those other 2 companies are better for it.  Mazda and Subaru are improving while Honda is declining so I’d hate to see Toyota and Honda team up.  And Honda teaming with GM is just plain silly.

My heart dropped when I heard about the partnership with GM.

Toyota has partnered with Mazda, Subaru, BMW, and GM, and had some pretty good results. Generally, the quality and performance of the resulting cars has been in the normal range for Toyota, and an improvement for the partner. I wouldn't expect any different.

Toyota doesn't really have a partnership with Subaru and BMW. Toyota just buys their cars and rebrands them. The new Toyota Supra is ALL BMW parts except for the Toyota logo (however, I'm not sure who actually designed the car). Same with the Toyota GR 86...same exact car as the Subaru BRZ because Toyota just buys them and rebadges it. As Scotty mentioned in one of his videos, Toyota is putting time and development into their own reliable vehicles, not performance vehicles.

It would set a new standard for the most reliable, boring cars ever made

If they made a car with a Honda engine (non turbo) and a Toyota transmission, it would turn out great. If the other way around, I’d say no to that because Honda makes better engines (if they’re not turbocharged) but Toyota makes better “everything else” and Honda seems to have had more transmission related problems than Toyota.
