I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu LT 4 cylinder with a 4T45E transmission. I am trying to determine what torque to use for the outer side cover bolts. I have looked at many different sites trying to find it, but with little luck. I have found sites saying 70-plus ft-lbs of torque for the bolts, but that seems pretty high considering that the casting is aluminum. I have tried to find the torque specs for this transmission, but it almost seems like nobody wants to share the information with anyone. I can find torque specs for the bell housing bolts and the pan underneath the transmission, but that's about it. I just don't want to put that outer side cover back on fully without knowing what to torque the bolts to.
Have you checked a repair manual for that information?
nobody wants to share the information
No idea what you mean. There are service manuals available for pretty much all GM vehicles from the usual sources.
