Over cooling mercedes???!

Hi Scotty!!! Love your videos! Been watching since 2020 when I bought my first car, 2005 Toyota Camry 🙂

I also now have a 2014 Mercedes Benz E350; 115k miles,

It operates at a normal temperature in the city; 90 degrees

But sometimes, not always, at highway speeds it can cool down to 80 degrees which is slightly below operating temperature.

Once I decrease the cars speed the temperature will climb back up to 90 degrees. It’s never gone past 90 nor below 80.

What can cause this? Do you have any experience working on this generation E Class? (2010 - 2016)

I was thinking it was maybe a bad thermostat since the car is 10 years old and has never been replaced, but when running one of those high level scan tools it doesn’t show any codes for that

What’s your take on this? Thank you so much in advanced!

There are no codes for the thermostat or any other specific parts, only for conditions that exist which usually have a number of possible causes. Are there any codes at all?

The simplest thing to do is replace the thermostat with an OEM one. Drain the radiator a bit using a clean pan.
