hi scotty, i am wondering what your opinion is on pontiac G6. i have a 2007 pontiac G6 2.4 liter with 156,000 miles on original engine and tranny, doesn’t burn any oil and perfect fuel trim. 17 years and it has never had to be towed and has never left me stranded. i also know someone with 425,000 miles on theirs and they have never had any major problems, mainly just maintenance. It seems like they can last a long time. what is your overall opinion on these?
The Pontiac G6 is just a badge-engineered Chevy Cobalt. They don't make them anymore, nor the Cobalt's successor, the Chevy Cruze. GM could never hack it in the compact car segment and they pulled out.
I'm assuming the person in question drove mainly on the highway, which is equal to about 10% city driving. It would be almost impossible for a G6 to drive in the city 425,000 miles, they're too poorly made.
the pontiac g6 is a midsize car not a compact. it was based on the chevy malibu. the chevy malibu is a midsize car. the G6 got upgraded suspension and engine tuning, as well as a stiffer chassis and more agile handling. the pontiac g6 really isn’t as bad of a car as everyone assumes, those who aren’t familiar with them.
Midsized or compact, they still don't make them anymore. Pontiac as a whole doesn't exist anymore because they started making crappy cars. That was in the last few model years before Pontiac went defunct. GM went bankrupt for a reason. They changed their names from Grand Prix to G6, and the Grand Am to the G5, hoping they'd be revitalized. They didn't.
@justin-shepherd / @chucktobias showing those 2 photos side by side, well it's just criminal..
I know, when I heard Pontiac was coming out with a new GTO in the mid-2000s, I couldn't wait to see what they would do. All they actually did was rebadge a Holden into a Pontiac. Such a lost opportunity.
did you check scotty's reviews? (bottom of front page)
doesn't look good
