- So basically it was droven through some mud or water and after it started to overheat it can drive for about 20 miles and then Starts to overheat it has a cel on but I'd like some advice on what to look for check out and see to make sure I don't miss anything or anything slips by me TIA

Since the check engine light is on you need to scan for codes. Many things can cause overheating, see the FAQ section on troubleshooting an overheating condition.
