Have a 2017 Nissan Titan SL,2wd auto with 142000 miles. New short block at 100000 under warranty. Has a P0015 code. Cam position sensors, oil control solenoid, high pressure fuel pump, timing chain, guides, tensioners and vvt sprockets have all been replaced. Still shows same code. Only symptoms are takes long to start after fisrt crank in the morning amd is in limp mode so won’t rev over 3500 but runs fine and there is no noise.also oil pressure has been checked and is fine.
Realize that thing has variable valve timing and that code is for over retarded timing. So either they didn't build the engine back together correctly when they put the short block in or you have problems with the variable valve timing system which could be very expensive to fix. But if it runs okay most guys will just ignore that stupid code
All the timing parts were just replaced, and yes it was expencive.Figured if i fixed that i could drive it for a long time not figuring it would still have this issue. Ran for 40000 miles with no issues after short block was installed.
Concerned about it taking 2-3 times as long to crank after the first start up in the morning. Was told that is a result of the timing issue. Dont want to have to replace the starter on top of what i have already done. Found out today it located under the intake manifold.
