2005 Toyota Tacoma, 1GR Engine, 173,000. Crankshaft position sensor replaced in October 2022. Check Engine Light came on this morning. Pulled Code and it is P0335. Did not restart the engine until sever hours later and the Check Engine Light is now not on. What should I do? Leave it alone? Try to pull a code? Take it to a shop only to be told not code could be found?
Not sure how to make this post. Site is confusing to me. Easy to create a post in the form of a question but to actually post it is impossible for me.
you posted just fine
That's only part of the code. The full definition of DTC P0335 is: "Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction"
You see, the computer only knows that the circuit doesn't behave as expected. It doesn't know if it's the sensor. That means you could have nicked wire, water in a connector, a corroded ground, etc.
There are some steps you can follow to help narrow down the cause here:
https://www.obd-codes.com/p0335
But since the warning went away on it's own, then you might not find it. You didn't say why you replaced the sensor in the first place, or what symptoms your truck showed, or how it's running now. It's quite hard to diagnose a patient without knowing any signs or symptoms, so please explain the full background if you expect us to help you with your problem.
If the truck runs fine now, then you'll just have to wait and see what happens.
