Check engine light came on. Scanned and got P0442.

I thought maybe my wife didn’t tighten the fuels cap. I took the cap of and put it back on tight. I cleared the check engine light.

A few days later the checks engine light came back on. I read where the Vapor Canister Purge Valve was a common failure on this vehicle, so replaced it.

I cleared the check engine light but I noticed my scan tool is still showing the code, P0442.

My question is, does the car behave to be driven a few cycles for the code to go away? The check engine light isn’t on but my scan tool is showing a yellow status light for inspection. I have to get this car inspected this month.
