My son has a 2000 Dodge Caravan with a 3.8 Liter engine with 185,000 mile throwing a P0601 code. He did not have a check engine light on until he replace the alternator. The dealer said the computer needs to be reflashed and they can not do it. He need to buy a new computer which comes reflashed! The price is about $185 and reflashing (which they can not do) is about the same price. Does anyone know anything about this and how is the alternator performance tied into screwing up the computer?

Why was the alternator replaced to begin with?
You have a problem within the wiring system. Inspect the wiring first before touching the computer.
