Have a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 70k miles, been having a weird jerk in the transmission for a couple of weeks, like 2 days ago, that code popped up and my the transmission would not shift out of 5th gear, turned it off for a couple of hours, turned it backed on and went back to normal shifting, but still the jerks remain. Got told it could be an internal problem in the tranny, what could it be inside all of the possible scenarios?

I bought it with 55k miles, don’t know if they did a ATF change before, but I haven’t done it either, so my guess is it’s never been changed.
Hopefully, only low or dirty transmission fluid. Change the fluid and filter. Hopefully, it's not too late. Change it every 30-50K miles.
