Hi: I have a 2001 regal, naturally aspirated, 3.8 V6, with 107,000 miles. It was running well until the engine started to have a widely fluctuating RPM. This occurred after driving only about 2 miles. After being towed home, I tried to start it the following day. For about 2 minutes it ran smoothly. Then the RPM began to fluctuate widely, leading to it stalling after about a minute. My conclusion was that it ran well during open loop operation, but got in trouble during closed loop operation. I checked with my Inova 3865rs OBD II reader. Aside from a couple of codes pointing to a small leak in the EVAP system (which have been there a long time) I got the above code. That indicated that there is a problem with the wiring between the PCM and the EBCM; that is, the delivered torque output circuit. In your experience, what is the most common cause of this code? I've inspected the connectors to the PCM and found nothing wrong. The wiring is wrapped up so I cannot see the brown/black wire that connects the two modules. I cannot open the PCM box. Should I try to take the EBCM apart? What should I check first? What should I check next?

Another topic: Create an episode where you explain to your audience what each position of the five character DTC stands for.  Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately I know that the wiring is bad it's usually the control module itself
