I just got very lucky and acquired a c180 exclusive from 2015 with only 25'000km. Full service history and in flawless condition.
My first lesson, I had a cup of coffee in the center storage area. It spilled - about 30-40 mls. I immediately cleaned it up but noticed the volume disappearing. Upon further investigation I removed the rubber mat and noticed three holes to the left. These, to my knowledge are drainage holes. I used twisted tissue down the holes to clear all fluid. A few days on no issues with center console, ambient lighting, gears etc. in this automatic.
This is my first merc as a young guy and lesson learned - no coffee in car. My concern is could this spill damage any electrics or is the area designed to transfer the spill safely to avoid electrics? Surely the designers foreshadowed this. Should I take it to a mechanic to have professionally cleaned.
Thanks!
If the holes you see are for drainage it's probably OK. (But - we don't know that for certain, and where would they drain to?) The only way to really be certain is to have a mechanic familiar with those cars take a look at it.
