PCV Valve Replacement service

Hello!

I went to a dealership for an oil change and they tried to sell me a PCV valve replacement service for $90.

Is it okay to take my car to my trusted independent mechanic for this service?

The reason I ask this is, he always uses aftermarket parts.

2012 Toyota Camry LE 4 Cy, Automatic, 140K, burns oil

Sincerely,

Ash

It is a good idea to change it. Use the OEM part.

Thank you! I changed it at the dealership just to stick to OEM part.

From what I've found out, the PCV valve for your vehicle is metal, not plastic.  Just pull it out, squirt some carb cleaner in it and shake it till you hear it rattle.

Thank you!
