Hello, I have a 2014 honda civic wth 132k miles on it. Because of scotty learned about a PCV valve. I learned that they should be replaced as proper maintence. I recently went to Orileys and bought a ne valve , cganged it and it started to rattle. I went back and got another one, put it in and it started to rattle as well. It is nt something quite either, it was very loud and i could hear it from the inside. I went to honda and they'll sell me one for $37, i knew they'd be expensive but not that expensive.
what is it with these pcv valves ? should i just buy the oem one or is there another place i should look? or leave it as is
Replace the PCV hose
The way you know your PCV valve is good is if it rattles. It's letting you know the valve is moving inside the casing like it is supposed to. I clean my PCV valve (it's metal, not plastic) with every oil change. If you have a plastic one, it's worth the $3 at Autozone or wherever to replace it. It's a lot cheaper than a blown main seal.
