2005 ram 1500 5.7
I used some exhaust leak repair paste on the welds just before and just after the catalytic converters banks one and two. Next day I get code 0430 bank 2 catalyst under threshold. Do not have the exhaust back pressure tester to use on o2 sensor port. Would the exhaust leak fix cause this code and is it serious?
the paste actually could wreck the catalytic converters because it's going to be pushing that pace through and they're not made for any kind of chemical reaction that can destroy them. But wait a few days till everything's totally dried then reset the code and pray it won't come back because maybe after it all dried and the chemical smell wore off it might not make it act weird anymore
The downstream O2 sensor should be replaced with an updated sensor and the Powertrain
Control Module (PCM) flashed to the latest calibration. The suggested
part number for R1500 trucks is 56029049AA.
If you had an exhaust leak its possible the o2 sensor did get "good" readings since it had a leak, now when the system is fixed, and has no leaks it gets its true reading, which could cause the trouble code you mentioned.
