My Daughter has a 2008 Toyota Rav4 (145,000 miles) and her Check Engine, VSC, and Stability Control lights are on while driving. Her mechanic ran a scan and she's getting a PO741 code. She was told she needs another transmission (auto). The current transmission is shifting with no issues or sounds. Is there another option we can go with?
You would not necessarily notice a problem with the torque converter lockup clutch not working aside possibly a little less gas mileage.
It may well be a problem with the transmission or torque converter, but there are other possibilities. More diagnosis is needed, preferably by a transmission specialist.
