Scotty,
I own a 2009 Pontiac Vibe with the 2.4L Auto FWD with 215,000Mi. Since I have changed the oil every 5K miles I don't have the oil burning issue. As you know the Pontiac Vibe is the same basic vehicle as the Toyota Matrix. My question: There is much confusion about what Tranny fluid and coolant to use in the Vibe. The owners manual states to use T-IV tranny fluid but the dip stick in the car says WS and the same year Toyota Matrix owners manual states to use only Toyota WS tranny fluid. The owners manual for the Vibe states to use only Dex-Cool but the same year Matrix owners manual states to use Toyota Super Long Life (Pink) coolant. There are numerous posts I found that state the Pontiac Vibe Owners Manual is wrong about what coolant and tranny fluid to use. What do you think??

WS supersedes T-IV
Toyota designed and built the engine, transmission and electronics. Pontiac did the sheet metal. I'd go with the Toyota Matrix recommendations.
put whatever coolant was in there before.
