Scotty, I have an opportunity to buy, private party, a 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.5L NA motor and automatic transmission. It has 109K miles. I believe it has a valve cover gasket leak, easy enough to fix, and it has a hard shift from 2nd-3rd gear. Every other gear shifts fine. 2 questions, is this a good buy at $3K and is it safe to drain and refill the transmission fluid at this mileage? Transmission fluid has never been changed and the filter is internal/Non-serviceable.
this will be replacing a 2015 Scion tC which gets about the same MPG.
Thank you for your help.

No. Run away from that car. Those escapes are notorious for transmission failures around 120k. Also, yours have too many issues. Find another car.

Thank you for the input Yaser.

I mean, they are not thaat good. The 2014 and newer Escape's are decent and the 2.5 engine is also pretty good as its not the 2.0 or 1.6. But with all those problems I would avoid.

Go with a 4Runner, RAV4, or Highlander instead. Can’t beat the reliability.

Honda CRV is a good choice, but a on styling alone the hands down winner is a Pontiac Aztek. It comes a tent a blow mattress.
