well in a bit of a slight panic .. in Tx just bought a Used 2001 Ford F150 Reg Cab 265k miles 4.6 liter v8 2v
its my first truck I bought it about a week ago had it towed home because owner said his dad used as a farm truck and did not have rotors . got it home , it runs pretty rough dies after about 15-30 sec . has check engine light but cant read code , only thing I was able to get out of the computer system from odb read was mileage and maintenance ?
I was thinking worst case scenario its a bad engine and replace it??
was able to do a run around my neighborhood pretty rough
should I keep it and work it out or is it a piece of garbage ?

Whats the overall condition of the vehicle with regards to rust?

bought it for 800 cash doubt I can get a refund he needed a ride mow pretty bad -_-
no rust which is what kept my attention ... inspection from 2019
needed a battery - got the battery
started right up ...
No body damage no rust no horrible signs of wear
no oil in coolant
oil was dirty but decent for 2019 sitting .
trans mission was decent
no weird or odd wear anywhere except tires being bald upon purchase
got some money to throw at it but don't want to lose anymore if its not worth it .
Hmm, 800 isn’t much. Maybe spend another $200 for a thorough inspection by a professional mechanic to see what all needs fixing and then take a call.

yeah I think the rotors and no brakes thing was just to keep me from test drive .
was stuck in the mud , tow had to winch out .
only have a mobile scanner with me but will be getting a pro diagnostics ; was trying to keep from towing it a second time
the reader I have is a mobile device odb hardware reader , only referenced overdue maintenance due to mileage reading
kinda a feature the app references
yeah definitely just wanted a second opinion before selling or throwing money at her.

maybe a used low engine 4.6 liter same gen if possible if it is the engine.
body is decent for a 10th gen f150
needs some tlc for sure haven't ran engine long enough to hear but don't want to do any damage pre diagnosis
