potential 4runner buy

I'm interested in potentially purchasing a 2006 4Runner with less than 150k miles. I saw the service record history, and it has received regular maintenance throughout its lifespan. However, over the past 5 years, the owner has had to remove and replace c/v axle boots, shocks, tpms sensors, RH front wheel bearing, and rear differential third member. I understand is recommendable to have a mechanic inspect it, but based on this info, is it a red flag or is it still worth it to take a look?

Was Scotty mistaken by mentioning how great 20-year-old 4runners are lol?

They may be great but time and age take their toll. Parts deteriorate and wear out, particularly gaskets and rubber seals. Also you have to worry about how it's been treated and maintained over a couple of decades. An older vehicle works out best if you're doing your own repairs. (That's what I do.) Most people don't do their own wrenching so something a little newer will usually work out better for them.

Okay, thanks for the advice!

It's an 18-year-old vehicle which is a red flag in and of itself. Those repairs are not totally unexpected in something that old and you can bet more will be required further down the road as it ages.

Will repair costs supersede monthly car payments when financing a 30-50k vehicle?

I have no idea.
