I have just purchased a one owner, 100,000 mile, 2002 Lexus ES300, car looks brand new, my question is does it need premium gas? The owners manual says yes, but I know Scotty has the same car, what fuel does Scotty run in his 02 Lexus??

Check the owner's manual and see if it is it required or recommended? If it is required, you need to use premium but if it is recommended, a regular gas should work just fine.

Toyota says 91 octane or higher (page 300)

Use only recommended gas. If not you will experience knocking and pinging from pre detonation. You can even cause engine damage
