[Solved] Should I change my Prius’ automatic transmission fluid?

Hi scotty, Your a legend {black}:laughingoutloud: I popped into my local Toyota dealer in the Uk for some transmission fluid for my 2011 Prius. (120000 miles) They said its a lifetime fluid and should never be changed. I said what do you mean by lifetime fluid? he said just that, never change it. I'm now a bit hesitant to change it and not sure what to do? it shifts lovely and is only drain and fill. I've made sure to purchase the correct Toyota WS transmission fluid. Can I damage the transmission by changing the fluid?

All the best

Paul

Change it.

It shouldn't cause any problems or damage. I plan to do mine sometime in the near future.

The fluid doesn't move the car, it is more of a coolant for the electric motors.

So there is no real danger in changing it like there would be in a torque converter automatic.
