Problem taking gas. 2006 Ford Explorer

I’ve got a 2006 Ford Explorer XLT with 172,000 miles, no check engine light or anything, but when I go to get gas, I can only get 2$ worth and the gas pump clicks and I have to wait for that gas to go down, any ideas of what it could be. Thanks in advance.

Disconnect the vent hose at the charcoal canister. If the problem goes away then is the vent hose. If is still there I would check the filler neck hose, there should be a rubber hose that goest from the tank to the neck. I ran into an issue that it took me hours to figure out. It turned out to be that the hose was collapse internally. I would post a pic but don’t know how.

Plugged up vents in the fill tube or tank

More than likely a defective Vent Valve.
