I have a 1997 toyota camry with 146k. I started it up last night and heard some knocking sounds coming from under the hood. It's been really cold, below 0, recently, but after I left it running for a bit, I didn't hear the sound anymore. I plugged in my block heater after I shut it off. Did I do any damage to my car?

The sound you heard was from the top of the engine because oil has not gotten there yet. I don't think you damaged the engine.

There’s always a chance you have done some damage. I’d just wait too see how it runs next time…
The 97 Camry has a very good engine and I doubt it could’ve sustained any serious damage…
