Anyone have any experiences or knowledge from buying cars through Costco?  Does it actually save you money?

Scotty just did a video about it.

Yes. That's why I am asking, curious to see if there are any personal experiences.

A couple years ago one of my friends bought a brand new 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road through Costco and he saved about $2,000 that way.

You, do not really purchase a car through Costco. Your Costco membership gets you a good discount through a dealership. Basically, Costco is a auto brokerage service that works manufacturers and dealerships.

Costco just connects you to a dealer they are not really negotiating the price for you.  I was going to buy a car through Costco and told the dealership Costco was going to give me some % in refund.  The dealership said they would beat it and give me more if I buy through them.  May be you can try haggling using costco refund to get more discount.

I thought it was $1000 less than the asking price, on average? And that includes your trade in.

I don't remember but I think it meant 1000 below market but the video but yesterday I believe you could check it out.

I have seen good looking cars for sale in Cosco.  For $1,000 off that is worth looking at.

I’m curious if it is better to negotiate yourself, or just go through Costco.

Yeah, I think it is more expensive, newer cars- definetly no cars under $15,000. My costco doesn't sell any cars, but I think your membership saves you $1000 on average so I would highly recomend costco.

Anyone have experience or knowledge of using Autolist and/or Costco to buy cars?  They each respectively (supposedly) pre-negotiate prices with dealers do you can walk right in with a pre determined no haggle price that allegedly saves you money.

Does it actually save you money? Or is it better to negotiate?

You already asked the same question in Feb. Merging questions.

Thanks for merging.
