Can I add oil additive in 2005 Ford Focus?

Thoughts on putting prolong oil additive in a relatively modern engine? Could you perhaps hurt an engine with vvt? Can it lower oil consumption? Does the product work? Or is it crap? Considering putting it in my 2005 Ford Focus that is a bit of a clacker from the valves.

Clarification: What is the mileage?

Modern oils do not require additives. The vast majority of additives are snake oil that won't do anything good and if you're real lucky might not cause any damage. "Prolong" oil treatment is in this category. No additive is going to fix a problem caused by worn parts.
