Hi Scotty, 15 mechanics and no one has an answer.

i have a 2019 ram Promaster, 43000,  all cab windows, and mostly the drivers side windows get a greasy film on them, little spots that just collect overtime.  A year with this problem, bring my truck to the dealership they give me a 2020 with 36000 miles, and it does the same thing, could you please help with this, my concern is whatever it is it’s blowing in the cab and I’m breathing it.  The spots appear right where the vent air hits the window, thank you sir if you have any ideas about this, thank you

can you post photos of it?

Commonly that greasy film is from cigarette smoke, outgassing of various plastic parts used throughout a vehicle, and preservative products such as Armorall, etc.

Plastic parts can outgas for years.

Coming out of the HVAC system...which is nearly all plastic...figure the heat that flows thru it...also very very small coolant leak at heater core.

Its possible something fell into the HVAC ductwork somewhere along the line and is slowly breaking down.

Mold is also a possibility. Try spraying a whole can of Lysol disinfectant into the air intake for the HVAC system while the blower fan is running on high, and heat is at full setting (for max flow)....with the vehicle running and windows closed. Later open and air out while cleaning windows with vinegar. Cheaper than an ionizer.
