Scotty, Thank you for your Awesome YouTube videos.I love them!
I have a 2022 Lexus LS five 500 with twenty thousand miles, automatic.
Manufacturer recommended engine oil is 0w 20. I use mobile 1 0w 20. I live in a warmer climate, castro valley california. With my experience as an aircraft mechanic I feel using 5W 20 or 5W 30 full synthetic oil will provide more protection for my car's engine than the manufacturer recommended oil.
What is your opinion on optimal oil for this vehicle? Also, would using 5w 20 or 5w 30 cause any issues with the way this modern engine functions?
Thank you for helping people out with their car care needs and issues!
Keep up the Great work!!!
God Bless You,
David Loux

Engines are well past the days where you used to run different oils based on ambient temperatures. My 1979 Pontiac Catalina has a range of oil specs depending on ambient temperature. Not so with your 2022 Lexus. Modern piston rings don't have nearly the degree of tension that the old ones did. Modern engines require thinner oil.
Your car maintains the same operating temperature, regardless of ambient conditions, anyways. Use whatever oil that is recommended by the manufacturer, nothing else. Your variable valve timing, etc. will probably act up if the proper oil weight isn't used. Mechanical engineers designed your engine oil system. I would stick to their recommendations.
