What happens when you fuel up with your car running? Is it bad?
Also what should I do if I can’t find a trustworthy mechanic? For fixes I can’t do on my own etc.
Common traits I’ve found for honest shops & mechanics
1) Busy (always)
2) Well kept, but far from shiny shop/location
3) A little stressed
4) Genuine kindness

Bad idea. For a mechanic ask around with people you know.
Refueling with the engine running is illegal anywhere I've bought gas in the US. I agree, word of mouth is probably your best bet for finding a good mechanic.

This question has been asked here before too, but in general never put gas in car while it's running; not safe.
For mechanic ask people you know about who they take their car to.
I would ask your friends for a reference. Most of the stuff you see online is made up junk or pay to play.
Social media sites like "Nextdoor" can be helpful in getting reviews on local mechanics.

Did somebody just use a SMARTPHONE to access this forum?!
I suspect that most people do, so I used a mobile screenshot that they would recognize.
Good point!
