Merc C320 250k on the meter.
When am accelerating i hear a ticking/clicking sound coming from the engine. The sound increases depending on acceleration. I opened the bonnet touched the purge valve and told someone to step on the gas pedal, i could feel and hear the ticking from the purge valve. What does this sound mean? does it mean the purge valve is dying?

Make sure your hoses are on tight I've seen clamps bust off from the pressure and hoses get loose and they start to tick. Start with the simple things first and work up.
