When rebuilding an automobile engine, what is a plastigage used for?
Hi Adrian.Please pick better titles that just "Question" . Everybody has a question so be more specific. Thanks.

Plastigauge is used for measuring gaps in things. For example bearing journals.

Depending on the mechanic... They either like it or hate it. I personally don't trust it. It suppose to measure things like plain bearing clearances. By crushing the right gauge plastic under a proper amount of torque and checking tolerance it suppose to give you a close enough type measurement. Though you coulda done a Google search for the same answer not gonna lie.
