Which ATF should I buy

yes i was just recently going to buy 4 quarts of Toyota type T-IV transmission fluid for my 2006 Toyota corolla ce automatic and its says online at my dealer were i live that it is no longer available and a few weeks ago when i checked  it said discontinued for type T-IV transmission fluid ,was wondering  is something going on with that type  off fluid or is there a new option available for my car , also i did check  other Toyota dealer sites online some say they have it but others say same thing no longer available or discontinued ok thanks

it may be that the WS is what they are migrating too

transmissions that take type IV are not compatible with WS fluid. Toyota makes this very clear with warnings they have issued.

My preference is Amsoil, I have never had any issues with it, and used it in numerous vehicles. I have also used Valvoline Max Life atf. The valvoline could be had for very cheap, and it has tons of reviews by happy toyota owners.

My 05 matrix that is basically a corolla with now 203k miles, I used Valvoline max life for several drain and fills when I bought it about 12k miles ago. Then I did a drain and fill with Amsoil. I plan to do drain and fills of amsoil from here on out.

It looks like Toyota changed to the WS around 2008, but the cars using Type IV were not recommended to change to WS. The WS is full synthetic and a better fluid. For your Corolla I would not use WS, but I would switch to a better fluid like I mentioned above.
