Hi Scotty, I am a huge fan. Great content every day. Much obliged. I reside in Cyprus. I have a F10 535d BMW 2016. How reliable are these cars? In addition, BMW states that transmission oil does not need to be changed (ZF8). But your videos suggest all transmission oils needs to be changed on specific intervals. Could you shed a little light on this issue on your next video. Best. Orhan Uludag
According to the internet, the N57 diesel is a decent engine that usually lasts about 150k~200k miles (250~300k km).
It says this engine requires frequent and good maintenance, and if it's taken care of it doesn't seem to have any major faults - the things you need to look for are intake flaps and EGR system getting cartooned up, timing chains getting stretched and the harmonic balancer getting destroyed.
On the topic of transmission fluid, replace it every 30k~40k miles (50k~60k km) with the recommended fluid.
If the electronics are not having issues, it can be quite decent.
Because you live in Cyprus. your BMW is generally better made compared to what the Americans get. That said, there are better cars out there, especially since the hot climate of Cyprus makes the plastics in your BMW more susceptible to damage.
Changing the transmission oil depends on your mileage and behavior of the transmission
Thank you Both for the feedback.
