I have a 1997 Lincoln Town Car with 29,500 miles on it and it is the original miles. I have already changed the coolant, brake, power steering and oil. I'm wondering if I should change or flush the transmission fluid? It's shifting great with no problems.
Change it (Drain and refill). Do not flush it.
I would change it. From this point onward, change the transmission fluid every 40,000 miles which for most people driving 13,000 miles a year is about every 3-4 years. In your case, if you don’t drive much it will take a while to reach that mileage. To be safe and as a good insurance policy, I would still just change it every 3-4 years. Of course, if all of a sudden you plan to put more than 13,000 miles a year then you will hit 40,000 miles sooner and you should then just go by mileage versus time in that scenario.
