Why is the battery draining in 69 Chevy Truck

Hello

I inherited a 1969 C/10 pickup, 64K miles,  automatic, straight 6. All parts are original. The starter was failing so I replaced it with a rebuilt AC Delco. The teeth in the old starter were rounded.
After installing the new starter, the truck started fine but the next day the battery was dead.  The battery was 8 years old so I figured I’d replace it with new one.  I installed that, fired up the truck but the next day the battery was dead again. The truck will start with a jump.

I have no idea where to start looking for the battery drain. I replaced most of the fuses before I changed the starter and I disconnected & reconnected the starter thinking maybe I had contacted something that shouldn’t be contacted.  I can’t find the problem.

What could be causing the battery to drain? How can I get it to stop?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks! The battery is good. I’ve gone through the fuses. I’ll try again and see if I missed something.

Sounds silly, but make sure none of the interior lights are staying on. I can't remember all the locations in those trucks. Obviously you have a draw somewhere. Good news it's older and not a lot of possibilities. Also try to check the wiring harness. If it's been sitting, mice could have chewed some wires and could be drawing that way. Just do a slow careful review and you'll find it. Also, if you have a volt meter, check for pass through draw on the fuses.

@lawnguy, your advice belongs in the "Your Answer" text box below. Comments are for clarifications and further discussions of a solution. Thanks.

Sorry, I thought that's what I did.

First, get a load test on the battery.  It may be bad even if it's new.  Next, type Parasitic Drain into the search box at the top right hand corner of the page.  It'll take you through the procedure.
