My wife just bought a 2018 kia soul and the ac immediately started blowing warm air. Per warranty instructions we took it to Firestone and they told us the r1234yf was contaminated with 25% 134a and we need to have a completely new ac system for over $2k. The warranty co of course said no way. So we tried Repair Smith for a 2nd opinion. They vacuumed and charged the system, tested for leaks, replaced the high low connector ports and 2 o-rings, charged the system. it held a charge and was immediately cooling great. Dye is in the system in case there is still a leak somewhere. Is Firestone using their expensive new machine to scam people? Their diagnostic report didn't even have a record of pressure readings. Their machine simply told them the system was contaminated, and they would do nothing short of a complete change out of every ac compliment.
NEVER go to the big chain shops like Firestone, Pep Boys, Midas, etc. Not only are they very likely to rip you off they can be so incompetent that they may not even realize they're doing it.
